How to check price history on Amazon India (free, step by step)
Amazon.in shows the M.R.P. and a deal badge, not what the product cost before. How to see the full price history of any Amazon product and tell a real deal from a normal price.

Amazon.in tells you today's price, a struck-out M.R.P. and sometimes a badge like "Limited time deal". What it doesn't tell you is what the product cost a few weeks ago. Without that, there is no way to know whether the deal is a real drop or the price it sells at most days.
Here is how to see the full price history of any Amazon.in product in under a minute, for free, and how to read it.
4 in 10 sale prices were higher than before
In the first week of the sale, 41% of the Amazon products we track never got as low as a price they had sold for in the three months before it. Typically they were 13% above that earlier price.
Step 1: Copy the product link
- In the Amazon app: on the product page, tap the share icon, then choose Copy in the share sheet. You get a short link that starts with
amzn.in. - On the Amazon website: copy the address from your browser's address bar. Long links full of tracking codes are fine.

Both kinds of link work. If you share the product to a chat first and copy the whole message, paste that; we find the link inside it.
Step 2: Paste it on SpendMitra
Open the Amazon price history page, paste the link into the box and press Check price. No account needed.

For a product we already track, the history opens right away. For a new one, we load its earlier prices first, which takes a few seconds, and then keep checking it through the day.
Step 3: Read the price history
Look at three things, in this order:
- The lowest price on the chart and when it happened. This is your target.
- The usual price, the average for the period you pick. A "deal" at or above the usual price is not a deal.
- Today's price against both. Close to the lowest is a good buy. Near the usual price is an ordinary day.

The verdict at the top of the page (buy now, good price, fair price or wait) puts these together for you. To get more out of the chart itself, see how to read a price history chart before you buy.

Step 4: Let the price come to you
If it says wait, press Watch price and pick Telegram, email or the Android app. We tell you when the price drops, or when it reaches a target you choose. During sales, when prices change several times a day, this is much easier than checking by hand.

Amazon details that change the picture
M.R.P. and "List price" are not the usual price
The crossed-out price on Amazon is the M.R.P. or a list price. Plenty of products never sell anywhere near it, so a 50% badge can sit on a perfectly ordinary price. We wrote about this in is the MRP a real price?.
Deal badges come and go
"Limited time deal" and lightning deals are real price changes, and they show up in the history. The useful question is not whether there is a badge, but whether the deal price is below what the product usually costs. The chart answers that in one look.
Variants share a page but not a price
A size or colour you pick on the same Amazon page can have its own price. Copy the link after selecting the exact one you want.
Bank offers, coupons and exchange are extra
The price history is the price before card offers, coupons and exchange discounts. Those change separately, so treat them as a bonus on top of a good price, not a reason to buy at a normal one.
Common questions
Does Amazon India show price history?
No. Amazon.in shows the current price and the M.R.P. or list price, not how the price has moved. A price tracker fills that gap.
How far back can I see?
Up to a year for products we have tracked that long. When you check a product for the first time, we load the earlier history we can find.
Does it cost anything?
No. Price history and price drop alerts are free. You only need an account if you want alerts.
Can I check from my phone?
Yes, in any phone browser. With our Android app you can also share a product from the Amazon app straight into SpendMitra.
Shopping on Flipkart too? The same steps work there, with a few differences covered in how to check price history on Flipkart.
How we measured this
The sale figures compare each product's lowest price from 8 to 14 October 2026 with its lowest price in the 90 days before 8 October, for the 20,065 Amazon products we were actively tracking with history from before that period. In that week, 31% went below their earlier lowest by at least 1%, 28% matched it, and 41% stayed above it. Numbers are rounded.
